Our program for November 8th is local history that is not well publicized.  Stephen Hoy, the author of a new book, "Camp Oglethorpe - Macon’s Unknown Civil War Prisoner of War Camp” will tell us the story.

Mr. Hoy grew up in Gettysburg and the Air Force brought him to Middle Georgia.  Camp Oglethorpe was the training ground for Georgia’s volunteer regiments and then a Prisoner of war camp for Union Officers only from 1862 to 1864.  It was located between 7th Street, Pine Street, Hawthorne Street and swampland.
